Fresh college graduates can have a tough time getting a foot in the door for their first jobs. Chloe Fakhouri, however, has both feet planted firmly at JMG even before she completes her education.
She became an intern at the firm in March 2018 during her junior year at DePaul University and will become a full-time financial planning associate at JMG with her planned graduation in June 2019. Carrying a full-time class load and working part-time is impressive, but Chloe is no stranger to hard work. She’s a double major and a candidate for two bachelor’s degrees – one in management and the other in finance.
“The environment here is so much more welcoming than other firms,” she says. “They use your strengths instead of focusing on your weaknesses. Making mistakes is not ‘do or die.’ You’re able to learn instead of being fired.”
Mentorship and teamwork are priorities at JMG, Chloe says. As part of her training to become a financial planning associate, she learned about different roles and departments.
“If you want to learn and gain experience, this is the right place to do it,” she says. “Everyone is open to sharing their expertise. That’s what it’s all about: Great leaders teaching other people to be great leaders.”

When Brett joined JMG straight out of college, the finance major faced a reality familiar to many recent graduates.
“You realize pretty quickly how much you have to learn,” he says.
Fortunately for Brett, JMG’s focus on supporting, mentoring, and helping new team members advance their careers made that realization more encouraging than intimidating.
“Even as a kid coming out of college, you can walk into anyone’s office, including the CEO’s, and they won’t hesitate to answer questions or help you out,” he says. “If you ask someone here for a minute, they’ll give you an hour.”
The firm has a professional, focused approach that encourages curiosity and continuous learning, Brett says. The team also recognizes the importance of human connection and the need for a little fun to go along with a lot of hard work.
“We take our jobs very seriously, but we don’t lack for laughs around here,” he notes.

Sarah’s first day at JMG was during the height of tax season. Expecting to walk into an atmosphere of stress and high anxiety, she was pleasantly surprised.
“Even during this incredibly hectic time, everyone was so helpful, positive and supportive of each other. You could see how well they worked together,” she says.
She quickly discovered that JMG’s collaborative and collegial environment extended well past April 15. Sarah’s mentors and colleagues continuously encourage her professional growth, but she says it is the way the firm equally values personal growth that makes it truly special.
“Coming back to work after having my first child was pretty overwhelming. The support and understanding I received on a personal level were incredible,” she says. “Saying we are all like a family here is not a cliché.”
